Sunday, January 6th, 2013

by Catherine Haug, January 5, 2012

If you are truly concerned about the invasion of GMOs in our food supply, please consider becoming active. A good place to start is the Tipping Point Network (TPN).  A conference call for interested Montanans is being organized for Tuesday January 8. When I have more information, I will post it as an event notice.

Bigfork Senior Center Gets a Makeover

Saturday, January 14th, 2012

by Catherine Haug, January 14, 2012

Exciting changes are in store at our community’s senior center, beginning with a new director and exciting plans for a makeover. Since none of the proposed changes can happen without the help of our community, and since part of our ESP mission is to build a strong community, I propose that we step up to the plate. We can:

  • make suggestions to enhance what the center offers;
  • volunteer our time;
  • make donations or suggest potential donors;
  • join other seniors for lunch at the center; and
  • attend other activities offered by the center.

Read on for more, including Cat’s ideas to enhance what the center offers. (more…)

Cider Press Contraption

Remember that wonderfully fun event during Tamarack! Time last October, where ESP had a cider press on the deck of LaProvence to press your apples? We do plan to do this again at Tamarack! Time 2010; using a wonderful new press made by Jeffrey Funk.

Jeffrey has been perfecting the design for some time, and has now pressed all the apples he saved in his root cellar.

Read on for information from Jeffrey on its use and construction (and more photos), and also for links to information on making cider and hard cider:
